Protecting Home in the High Country

Angela Loos Mar 24, 2026

For many of our neighbors, finding a place to call home is becoming an uphill climb. The High Country is a beautiful place to live, but the reality of our housing market has reached a tipping point.

Between rising property values and a limited supply of long-term rentals, many local families - the folks who teach our children, staff our clinics, and run our favorite local shops - are being priced out. When an unexpected car repair or medical bill hits, that gap can quickly lead to an eviction notice.

While the statistics can feel overwhelming, we’ve seen firsthand what happens when a community steps in to fill the gaps. Thanks to your incredible support, Quiet Givers has already assisted 27 households with housing-related needs so far in 2026. From security deposits for families transitioning out of shelters to emergency rent for neighbors in crisis, your support has ensured that 27 local families stayed in their homes.

Housing stability is the foundation of everything else. When a family is housed, kids do better in school and parents can stay focused at work. Your support helps ensure that home remains a reality for our neighbors in need.
