Celebrating 15 Years of Impact

QGAdmin Dec 18, 2025

Quiet Givers began in 2010 with a single, deeply personal act of kindness.

Founder Amber Bateman recognized a desperate need when she learned of three siblings at a local school who urgently needed clothing. Despite facing financial challenges herself, Amber purchased the items.

When the school social worker asked for a name for the thank-you note, Amber, desiring no credit, simply replied, “Quiet Giver.” The name, and the mission of anonymous giving, were born from that powerful moment of selfless generosity.

More requests soon followed from the school. Neighbors, parents, and community members quickly joined the effort, initially through a small Facebook group for exchanging donated items. As the volume of needs grew, people began contributing money, and the organization grew quickly. Quiet Givers officially secured its 501(c)(3) non-profit status in 2015 and now meets needs throughout Ashe, Avery, and Watauga counties in Western North Carolina.

Whether you’ve been a Quiet Giver since the beginning, or you just gave your first gift, we are so grateful for your support. We look forward to many more years of working alongside you to quietly meet the needs of our neighbors.
