A NEW HOME, A NEW LIFE

$500

GOAL

$140.64

A woman has worked hard to leave homelessness and start a new life. She was living in her car and is now moving into her new home. She has a job and will be able to pay rent moving forward, but has not been able to save enough for the deposit. Her deposit is $800., and we would like to at least help with $500

The George and Michelle Ligon Scholarship Fund

$1000

GOAL

$1000

We're thrilled to announce an incredible opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of two deserving students from Watauga High School. The siblings of the late George Ligon have made a generous offer to triple match all donations up to $1000 for the George and Michelle Ligon Scholarship fund. This means your $100 turns into $300, your $500 becomes $1500, and so on, up to $1000!

This scholarship is dedicated to honoring the memory of George and Michelle Ligon, two individuals who radiated joy and love throughout their lives. Their legacy of generosity and community service continues through this scholarship, which aims to provide financial assistance to hardworking students who give back to their community.

While we usually keep our donors anonymous at Quiet Givers, we believe that sharing the joy and love that George and Michelle were all about is most important. So, we would like to invite you to join us in this cause, to not only contribute financially but also share this post and spread the word about this opportunity.

Any additional donations received beyond the initial $1000 will still be added to the scholarship fund, helping us offer larger scholarshps. Every dollar counts, and every contribution makes a difference.

URGENT DENTAL CARE FOR THE LOW-INCOME

$5000

GOAL

$420

These needs just keep growing and growing and our resources are limited. We recently received a request for a mother of five. She spent her whole life raising her 5 kids and taking care of their needs while neglecting her own. Now, she is faced with over $1000 in dental work that she can't afford. Another request is an elderly lady needing a crown. Her Social Security Income doesn't give her any extra income to pay for that. THESE TWO REFERRALS ARE ON OUR WAITING LIST UNTIL WE CAN RAISE THE FUNDS TO HELP THEM! That is why Quiet Givers is starting a special campaign to raise $5000 just for dental needs across our counties. Your contribution could help someone smile again or face the day without pain. Won't you consider making a donation?

Home Security Housing Fund

$5000

GOAL

$100

In these challenging times, consider making a difference by contributing to our "Home Security" housing fund. The Boone & High Country area is known for its high living costs, a burden that many locals find tough to bear, especially those with low incomes or living paycheck to paycheck. Our fund aims to help these individuals by covering or supplementing their rent payments to prevent evictions. A small financial boost can sometimes be all that's needed to set them back on the path towards self-sufficiency, and that's where Quiet Givers come in. Your contribution can have a significant impact, helping keep local folks in their homes and away from hardship. Rest assured, your donations go directly towards eviction prevention. Donations can be made via the button below."

Hope for Single Moms

$5000

GOAL

$1010

Being a single mom can bring financial stress to families although moms are working tirelessly to make ends meet. In memory of Paula Mahoney, we're launching our "Hope for Single Moms" fund, aiming to raise $10,000 to provide some relief and spread cheer during this year. Let's transform struggles into smiles and ensure these resilient mothers and their families experience the warmth and magic all year long!

Heat Up the High Country

$30000

GOAL

$18049.01

It's finally fall and that means it's once again time to heat up the high country! Last year, through our partnership with WeCAN, the Heat Up the High Country program ensured that not a single Watauga County family was denied heating fuel assistance. That is huge! And we want to replicate that success again this year.
Heating fuel can be expensive, and for folks whose homes rely on natural gas for heat, it can be a debilitating expense this time of year. The Heat Up the High Country program offers one time fill ups for families in Watauga, Ashe, and Avery counties through referrals from our partner agencies. And your donation can help keep a family warm through the cold mountain winters.

High Country Transportation Fund

$30000

GOAL

$13800

We've all been there - a sudden rattling in the engine, a flat tire, a car that won't start. There are few feelings more immediately stressful than facing a potentially expensive car repair. The impact is even greater when you're already living paycheck to paycheck - a broken down car can cause folks to miss work, school, or be unable to travel to doctors appointments, turning an already bad situation into an even worse one by keeping folks from the very income they rely on to live. Transportation needs can be expensive, and very few organizations help with car repairs. These needs are often time sensitive and difficult to fill through individual fundraising because of their high cost.

That's why we've established the High Country Transportation Fund to cover emergency car repairs so we can get folks in need back on the road and back to work before the siutation becomes even worse. 100% of donations to this fund will go directly toward filling emergency car repairs for folks in our area to prevent transportation needs from putting struggling folks in an even more difficult position. If you would like to contribute toward this fund, donations can be made via the button below.

Home for the Holidays

$10000

GOAL

$4200

We are kicking off our 2022 Home for the Holidays fundraiser to help local folks stay in their homes this holiday season. Rent needs are our most frequently requested need, and our Home for the Holidays fund helps us cover these needs quickly without having to fundraise for them individually, preventing evictions and preventing homelessness during the winter months. Will you help us give the gift of home this holiday season? Donations can be made via the button below. Thank you!

Home for the Holidays Fund

$10000

GOAL

$9862

This year, give the gift of home for the holidays. Every year we get hundreds of requests for rent assistance, and while we never want to see anyone lose their housing, we especially don't want to see anyone lose their home during the brutal mountain winter. The Boone High Country area has one of the highest costs of living in the state, and this is especially difficult for low-income folks and people who are living paycheck to paycheck. That's why we established the Home for the Holidays housing fund, to allow us to better meet the needs of folks in our area who are struggling to afford rent. This fund allows us to cover rent payments or suppliment high rent costs to help us meet these needs faster and prevent people from being evicted because they cannot afford rent. Sometimes folks just need a little boost to help get them back on track, and Quiet Givers remains committed to helping folks who are struggling in our area get to a better place and achieve self-sufficiency. This holiday season, give the gift of home to someone who is struggling. 100% of contributions to Home for the Holidays go directly toward helping us prevent evictions and keep local folks in their homes and out of the cold this winter. Donations to our Home for the Holidays can be made via the button below.

It's that time of year again! It's finally starting to feel like fall again in the High Country, and that means it's time to Heat Up the High Country! As temperatures continue to drop into the fall and winter seasons, folks in our area will soon be needing extra assistance keeping gas in their tanks to keep their homes warm. Heating fuel can be expensive, that's why for the third year in a row we are establishing our Heat Up the High Country campaign to help keep the heat on from now through April of 2022. How can you help? It's simple! All you have to do is click on the link below to donate toward our fund. You can make a one time donation, or you can sign up for a monthly recurring donation that will automatically terminate when the campaign ends in April. You can donate as much or as little as you're able, but a monthly recurring donation of $10, $25, or even $50 will go a long way in helping people stay warm this fall and winter. Whether it's an elderly widow, a single mother, or a family of four, the Heat Up the High Country campaign allows us to partner with other organizations in our area like WeCAN, WAMY, and Blue Ridge Energy to help us keep the heat on for our struggling neighbors when they need it the most. Home for the Holidays Housing Fund

$10000

GOAL
Filled!

The last few months have been a difficult time for all of us. This year alone, Quiet Givers has seen a 234% increase in requests for assistance. 46% of those requests have been for rent needs. As we enter into the 9th month of the COVID-19 pandemic, and with the cold High Country winter setting in, we want to make sure that we have the resources to cover rent needs so that we can provide a safety net for those who are still struggling to make ends meet due to the economic impacts of the coronavirus. According to a report issued this month by the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) and the University of Arizona, some 6.7 million households across the country could lose their homes when eviction moratoriums expire on Dec. 31. We want to be say we did everything we could to prevent that from happening here in the High Country.

That's why we have established the Home for the Holidays housing fund, to help us meet these emergency needs as quickly and efficiently as possible. We will continue to fundraise for individual needs on a case by case basis, but a standing fund set aside specifically for housing needs will allow us to respond to emergency requests rapidly in order to make sure folks stay in their homes during the winter. Will you help us give the gift of home this holiday season? 100% of donations made to our Home for the Holidays fund will go directly toward filling emergency rent needs. Rent needs are expensive and average usually range between $500-$700 for one month. We have set an ambitious goal of $5,000 to help cover 10 emergency needs over the next month. If you would like to make a contribution to this fund, donations can be made by clicking the button below. Thank you!

Heat Up the High Country

$7000

GOAL
Filled!

It's that time of year again! With temperatures dipping into the 40s at night, it's time for us to Heat Up the High Country! We're asking you to commit to a recurring monthly donation of $5.00, $10.00, or $15.00 (or more if you can afford it) from now until April 2021 to help us fund heating fuel needs for those who are struggling to keep the heat on. Heating fuel is expensive - but thanks to our partnership with Blue Ridge Energy, WeCAN, and Operation Roundup, we are able to get a discount on heating fuel fill-ups that allow us to make your donations go further.

For the cost of a Pumpkin Spice Latte a month, you can help us keep the heat on for high country families in need. Last year our program spent $4,094.93 on heating fuel over the course of eight months (almost all of these were for elderly people and families with young children), and this year we want to do more. Can you help us meet our goal of $5,000 in pledged donations? Click the link below to contribute with either a one-time or monthly recurring donation to our Heat Up the High Country program and give the gift of warmth to someone in need this fall and winter.
